We were already late when we got to the red carpet—well really, we couldn’t be late as no one was expecting us to get on the red carpet—but since we were here, I thought we might as well. We queued with the socialites whilst watching all the celebrities being shuffled to the front of the line. I didn’t mind: I always enjoy watching this type of merry, jittery, glittery bazaar.

I turned around and saw Phoebe Philo gliding past us behind the smoked window of a black car.

Even she was there.

Outside, a crowd had formed, shouting names: mostly models, TikTok celebrities and a few actors looking to be seen. Kylie Jenner, Kelly Rutherford, Jared Leto, and many others.
