Ahh, Garance. How long has it been since you were taking street fashion photos and doing those beautiful sketches? Trying to hurry through all the fashion shows in those crazy high heels? Trying a California life for a while, finding Lulu, dismissing an unsuitable man. You are so much more at ease with life now, with Graham and this exciting Moroccan vision. I like the white T shirt. But two swimsuit blacks? I am sure you will be great in colour, as with your coulour pulls and T shirts :). The first one I like more than the second one. Do you change your swimsuit/bikini after the bath? I aways change it, It is very funny to do It sorrounded by the towel :))
Honestly, with the impact on the environment from so much shopping, it's awesome when we can find a way to be happy with a smaller, more sustainable wardrobe. And isn't the ultimate goal to find our signature style and stick with it? Good for you!
This style is the style I dream about! It’s what I always gravitate towards and come back to. I so wish sometimes I had the lifestyle to wear some of the trendy European streetwear I see all over Instagram but the reality is I live in Southern California and have 3 boys under 5 so we are always playing outside. It’s a constant balance of trying to style with what inspires me and what is realistic to my day to day life. But THIS is what my heart always returns to—neutrals, linens, comfort and always dreaming of the Mediterranean.
💛💛💛. I am recently someone who doesn’t have to commute and report to work. Defining this period is complex (kinda like some relationships) for me - I don’t know if this is retirement, an opportunity, a hiatus, a turning point. But what it has been is a week of clearing out closets for new flooring. In doing so, I am finding many things are anchors holding me to the past me, to who I thought I should be.
Like you Garance, my style has evolved - or perhaps comfortably settled - to simple, classics, quality pieces that have travelled with me over 30 years in some cases.
There is the occasional azure caftan scattered with lemon blossoms and the fruit, whimsical hats evoking Downton Abby, and a duck egg blue London Fog washable rain coat that I picked up more than 20 years ago for $25 at the outlet which has never failed to elicit an admiration. This coat has, it has many stories to tell!
I feel blown fresh by the sea air after this clean out. There are more things going out than are staying (except for maybe the shoes). I am lighter both emotionally and in possessions should an opportunity arise to follow a wild hare.
Thank you, always, for your candor in how you approach life, relationship, fashion, possessions, aging…. It makes one recognize that life is not instagram perfect!
Use Percarbonate de Soude to keep the whites pristine (and remove stains, make them white again if they have become yellow). You just need to pour some percarbonate powder in very hot water, put the clothes in it, leave for 24h, wash the usual way et voilà ! Even better if you can let them dry in the sun.
