… Still in Paris.

I am beginning to learn that literally no one stays in Paris one day longer than they need to.

For real Parisians, Paris is a week-only place.

On top of that, every six weeks there is a school vacation and the city empties of all of its Parisians. If you stay around, your social calendar comes down to about zero. It’s a great time to write that novel, book your facelift or even go on a forced silent retreat, as the only people you will encounter around town are tourists.

Weekends are the same—everyone seems to have a home in Perche or Normandie. What it means is that most of (my) socializing happens between Monday and Friday. Hello, crammed weeks and empty weekends!!!

For the sake of objectivity, may it be noted that my friends are about my age, which makes it more likely that they have unlocked the house-in-the-countryside bonus, and that I have elected to live in a very nice neighborhood, which, let me put it right here, is not exactly real.
