I am over anything needlessly overpriced, anything overly shiny, anything gratuitously shouting “exclusive!!!” at me. Luxury brands, luxury magazines, luxury holidays.
Anytime I can smell the overpowering scent of luxury, I run the other way.

I used to be different.

When I started becoming “someone” in fashion, I was fascinated.
Oh, how many first class trips, how many jaw dropping hotels, how many yachts, how much stuff. Bags. Shoes. Watches. Jewelry. Clothes. Perfumes. Luxury everywhere.

Luxury is interesting because it’s one of these life aspirations that can be bought.

Most times it’s bought with money. If you don’t have it, you can buy luxury by being good company. It’s a very expensive price to pay, I know it because I did it for a while. I played good company with brands that washed me with luxury. I smiled, praised, and applauded. I played impressed when I was supposed to, and returned favors by doing what was expected of me.
