I have a serious case of the puff.
The craziest thing is that it’s nothing new. It’s just an old thing I’d never really registered before because I was young and careless.
I have lived with puffiness my whole life (I have photos to prove it) and no one ever told me.
When my friends were talking about their own puffiness, I remember thinking—what are they talking about? Then I started noticing it, and now it’s all I can see. I puff around the eyes, the neck and the face—and when it’s really bad, even my hands can feel swollen, which terrifies me.
It’s mostly related to stress, food, and hormones and except from trying to live in a perfect world without any delicious or exciting things, there isn't much I can do about it. I could work out more, but that’s another Note, for another time.
In the meantime, I've built quite a collection of tools.
In the mornings, I ice roll as I am having my coffee. It’s delicious, and it constricts the veins which helps blood and lymph flow.
Before my shower, I gua sha. I’ve followed enough tutorials on TikTok and YouTube to know how to help drain the fluid out of the way. I think it does help, but maybe it’s just wishful thinking.
I’ll also dry brush (I’ve been doing that forever despite not knowing why I was doing it—I just loved how it made me feel), jump on a rebounder (jumping is wonderful for so many reasons, my three favourites being energy, vibe (jumping makes you happy!) and natural lymphatic drainage), and I end my shower with cold water.
Voilà! Is there anything you do to help your puffiness? Do teas work? Which ones should I try?*
