I would have never guessed that I would love my pearls so much.
I don’t even know where I got them, but I suppose it’s one of these highly frequented temples of consumption that one can find around Regent street, the ones with which we all have a love-hate pride-shame relationship with—you know the ones I’m talking about?
Their price is probably the only reason why I got them, because I would have never imagined that my “pearls” would become my most favourite accessory ever, my gateway pearls.
I wear them all the time, get so many compliments, and even my husband (!!!) literally melts when I wear them. They brighten my face, give anyone the impression that they’re sitting next to a distant cousin of Audrey Hepburn (very distant), and the absolute stroke of genius is the “satin” ribbon in the back.
It is so long that it goes all the way down my back and, boy, is that suggestive.

They’ve become a new signature, and I would almost feel like I had started a new trend, if only my sister hadn’t been wearing hers proudly and sumptuously over all of her outfits (sweatpants included) for years.
I could feel that she was having a blast with her pearls. It’s just that it took me forever to take the plunge because of my fear that it would make me look like a grandma. Now, of course, I am ogling real ones—and, seeing the price, let’s just say that if I ever buy them, I will NEVER forget where it was.
So. Today, with this Note, I want to tell you not to wait. Get yourself some pearls. Gateway or not, they’re one of the best investments you can make.
I know. Any grandma could have told you that ;)
