The Note #17

One WIN, One FAIL.

Here is my best purchase from last year that will carry over this fall / winter, as well as my worst one, which has been donated a long time ago.

You win some, you lose some, right?

WIN

I found the chunky boots of my dreams. They’re from Proenza Schouler (photo!)

I know one would think the chunky boots of my dreams would be the The Row ones (very unoriginal, tsss, is that really what you think of me?) and they are, but seeing that I am a size 40-41, I can easily look like I am dragging two coal barges at my feet. 

I can attest to that because I do own them in the cream colour (What you thought of me? You were so right)(Also, dumb colour when you live in England)(Why did I do that?*) and that is why I can say that the effect when you look from the side is seriously gigantic.

My Proenza Schoulers are perfect with everything, comfortable, nice and tight at the ankle the way a chunky shoe should be, they don’t make my feet look too gigantic and well, they’re back this year. Of course, they are. 

They’re a great classic.

FAIL

A black gigantic coat. I made the mistake of thinking I could get away with a Zara one which had the perfect cut (as long as I bought it in extra large—I often buy my coats in extra large because one of the secrets of fashion is that you can’t be shy with proportions) and it did, and it was great until I realised the fabric** was raspy, would gather everything on its way and I would end up dragging my pet's hair and people’s hair and anything else’s hair I encountered on my way, and looking really cheap.

I still want a black giant coat though and I’ll report as soon as I’ve found the perfect one!!

*I justified the purchase because I decided to dress in all whites and beiges for the whole duration of my wedding week, which I didn’t make a fuss about because it sounds so Bridezilla (me, me, ME! The virgin of Scotland!) But you can read about my dress here.
