I don’t cook*, but my wardrobe is like a mayonnaise: everything gets incorporated slowly, folded in until it all works together.
I’m done with statement pieces. After years of fashion shows, I’ve made enough statements to last several lifetimes.
Okay, since you insist, here is a photo from the past—on my way to the shows. I was very, very proud of myself as you can see (or it’s just that I really like Sandra) and now I have trauma and NEVER WANT TO WEAR HATS AGAIN. WITH BLOODY FEATHERS. Or weird high heels. Or it-bags. No more statements.

Ok, here’s a palate cleanser. I can’t have you lingering with that image in mind.
Now, if something requires the rest of my closet to work around it, I just return it. Last year it was a red jacket—beautiful, but so high-maintenance it demanded more brainpower than watching Industry (have you heard about the TV show? Would love to hear what you think)

Brown, on the other hand, has been the opposite. It slipped in quietly, one piece at a time. A shirt here, a pair of trousers there. And the other day, I realized I was dressed in all brown—shirt, pants, even shoes and socks.

It’s one of the nice things right now: trends that actually linger. Brown has been going strong for three years, it’s easy to find, and for someone like me who doesn’t like wearing too much black, it’s the perfect alternative.
And really, could there be a cosier autumn color?
If like me you like brown, I made a little shopping board for you with a ton of things I love. Big kisses and till next time!

*I’ve just given up for now. I just have ten extra simple “recipes” that are on repeat and the rest is just eating sardines, or throwing everything in my steamer and voilà.

In my last Letter, I wrote about partying and, ahem, taking mushrooms, at fifty.
In my last Note, I wrote about three design details in an incredibly beautiful hotel I will be stealing for our Moroccan house.

At Doré, we launched two new incredible serums!!! They are formulated with a proprietary blend of silk peptides and natural ingredients that deliver visible transformation but do not irritate or sensitize your skin. Both are exclusive to Ulta Beauty and you can learn more about them here: Peptides Extreme Fermeté and Peptides Bouclier Intégral. I love them!
Big kiss and have a wonderful day!

I think chocolate brown is such a great colour and it looks great on you! I do have to say though Garance, that there is really nothing wrong with the purple outfit. It looks like someone who was having fun with fashion and it put a smile on my face to see it (not in a mocking way!). While I think your current style is lovely, it's also *super* trendy. This The-Row-Minimalistic-Quiet-Luxury-I'm-Beyond-Trends style has been going strong for the past several years, but it's very much of its time. I think that in 10 years you might be looking back at this brown outfit with the same horror as the purple one haha. But there's nothing wrong with either of them, we all live in our current times and it's not wrong to dress that way.
I adore browns! It suits me best out of all colours, and like you, Garance, I love wearing it because it's not bright and it doesn't make me stand out. In my 20s, when I was working as a secretary and had no money, I purchased a brown linen shift dress from a high street store. It was one of those pieces that fitted like a glove and I wore confidently (so many things I didn't). I remember standing in the office kitchen making my morning tea when one of the female partners complimented me on my dress. This woman reminded me of a chic French woman and always carried a Prada bag. It was the ultimate compliment! Since then, I've always had brown in my wardrobe and love it when it comes back in fashion.
