The Note #60
Farewell, Carrie
By now, most of you who wanted to finish And Just Like That probably have. But if you haven’t—don’t read past this line :).
I’m sure you know by now—I loved Sex and the City. The way it put friendships at the center of women’s lives felt real. The way it talked about sex was so modern for its time. And the main protagonist? A writer, a messy love life, a love for fashion—oh, how many times did I identify with her.
Which is why I hated the first season of And Just Like That. It was everything SATC had never been. Full of clichés, desperate to tick cultural boxes, and painfully unfunny. Samantha was gone, New York was polished within an inch of its life, the friendships felt hollow, everyone was way too wealthy, and the styling… what was that?
But the second season—maybe because I had set my expectations lower than young Samantha’s standards—felt softer, easier to watch. And when it came to the end (which will be the forever end as the show won’t be renewed)… It felt right.
What is the end to me?
After all these years of yearning and searching, Carrie parts with us, single and without children, the exact opposite of what’s traditionally called a happy ending. But the season is good at showing how love and meaning is not just about the nuclear family. She’s created a web around her—as shown in the Thanksgiving episode—with meaningful relationships everywhere, from her pie lady to Miranda’s son.
I love how the theme of contentment built up throughout the season, coming into focus when she meets another writer. He’s British and he’s sexy, but what excites her isn’t the fling so much—it’s their intellectual relationship. The work, the collaboration, the feeling of being alive in her art.
To me, the ending is a love story. Not with a man, but with her life, her art, her city. A woman at peace with herself.
Did you watch it? Did you like it, hate it? What did you think about the ending?
In my last Letter, I wrote about love, work, unexpected living arrangements, and the lightness that comes from letting go of expectations to create a life that truly works for me.
In my last Note, I wrote about the color taking over my wardrobe.
In our last live, we talked about the latest fashion gossip and so much more! You can watch it here!

At Doré, we launched two new incredible serums!!! They are formulated with a proprietary blend of silk peptides and natural ingredients that deliver visible transformation but do not irritate or sensitize your skin. Both are exclusive to Ulta Beauty and you can learn more about them here: Peptides Extreme Fermeté and Peptides Bouclier Intégral. I love them!
Big hug and have a fantastic day!

I completely agree ! I thought it was a perfect illustration and validation of the importance of accepting your independent self
I liked the ending, and the last season overall was my fave of the 3.
