By popular demand*, here are a few things I do in order to sleep.
Sleep with a mask on.
Sleep with earplugs in.
Go to bed at ten like les poules (the chicken), as we say in France. Everyday.
Keep the room as cold as humanly possible. Die from it. That’s good sleep right there!
Always have a leg pillow. I’d rather have a leg pillow than a head pillow.
Nap. Naps are a stress and sleep regulator for me, better than any pills. 20-30 minutes max.
Here are things I used to do when my sleep problem was much worse.
Have magnesium in the evening.
Vape pot**. I don’t even like it, but it works.
In case I really can’t find my sleep, give up. Get out of bed, make myself a coffee (I know, counter intuitive but comforting to me), read self-development books (!!!?), and enjoy the quiet of the night. Not great, but better than turning over the three same catastrophic thoughts in my head for hours.
Here are things I wish I did.
Switch off all screens two hours before sleep.
Sleep on my back so I would never get wrinkles.
Say a little gratitude prayer before bed.
Here are horrible things I really wish I didn’t do.
Check Twitter right before going to bed. Just to start a nice explosion in my brain, you know?
Read on my iPad. So unhealthy on so many levels. Also, you can’t share your books.
Eat chocolate in the evening. Sugar high right before bed, how ‘bout that!?
And here is the wild card. I sleep a thousand times better when my guy is around. He calms me down. Even when he snores.
Which he doesn’t, of course. I don’t either, we’re just perfect like that.***

**Don't send the cops, that's when I was in LA.
***I don’t go to the bathroom either.
