A few years ago I too discovered (the horror!) that the skin on my décolleté lagged way behind my face and neck in terms of care. I am a side sleeper and it shows. Wrinkles, orange peel pores, uneven skin tone. I made a point of focusing on it daily: chemical peels alternating with retinol, nourishing masks and intense hydration, rigorous sunscreen. I am happy to report that the situation has improved visibly, yet nothing can replace the consistent care over decades I lavished on my face and neck. It’s not just good genes, people…
Oddly enough I am wearing a very similar black dress today in Tennessee. I had a small silk scarf tied round my neck, but got hot and swapped it out for a long necklace. I’m wearing black slides along with. Simplicity!
I have had IPL lasers on my décolleté (lived in LA in my 20s and did not sunscreen enough there.) It felt like getting repeatedly snapped with a rubber band, so not great but tolerable and improvements were vast.
Oh everyday every outfit is a rich and interesting story we tell ourselves, then share with the world. That’s why it’s so fun!
Even on the days when my “creative intellectual style maven with subtle social justice vibes” actually looks like “tired Babushka”- yes that was yesterday 😂
