Gosh, I am almost forty-nine. (HOLLY F…!)
Which is great. But it also means that my eyes are not always collaborating—especially in the morning. Puffiness (thank god I have my Doré Ice Roller), wrinkles (I’ve always wrinkled a lot when I smile but now it looks like a Sphinx Cat’s forehead) and under-eye bags (especially on one side of my face) are a part of my life.
Some days worse than others.
And on those days, now, I do that thing that people of a certain age do—and that I used to make fun of (I’m paying for my sins)—and that is I play around with coloured lenses.
I have to be honest, I still don’t own it completely. I’ll put them on and then remove them because I feel like the look is giving too much attitude. I’m way too much of a people pleaser to pull an Anna Wintour.
But also, I kind of love it.
Ok, enough talking, here are my three frames and what I think of them!
These are my latest purchase. They’re from Aire. And… look. A part of me LOVES them, and also the lens colour is wonderful. Even more in the darkness of the winter where I live—it makes the day feel sunny and bright. Now I am not super comfortable with the intense fashionista vibe they give me. I have a huge problem with the intense fashionista vibe (it’s always contained a certain amount of… hum, how can I say it… meanness and snobbiness to me)(But maybe I am just PTSD from fashion. Who knows?) and I have even more of a problem with the IFOACAV (Intense Fashionista OF A CERTAIN AGE Vibe).
I’m also scared of the COS lady Gallery Owner vibe, but this Note is already way too long, so let’s move on.
These are perfect to soften a tired eye, but don’t look too awkward and pretentious indoors. I love them. I got them last year at Rendel in Paris. It’s a shop where you can pick your frames and then choose your lenses. Trick of the trade: I specifically asked them to use the bottom of the ombré lens so that it would be completely clear. The result looks like good eye make up.
Maybe one day I’ll have them made in opticals.
You might remember these ones from my honeymoon last year. They’re Tom Ford. I am on the fence about them. I love them but I don’t feel like they fit my personality. Does it make sense?

This is what I own for now, but I am looking at a few more. I’ll share!
Do you use coloured lenses?
PS1: Please don’t mind my flyaway hairs. I’m having an intense debate with myself about cutting my hair short and I’m testing new ways to manage it, and blow it out, and, and… blah! I’ll explain soon.
PS2: Yes, this is my favourite sweater and I wear it all the time. Also, white helps with my complexion.
PS3: Did you see my brows in the second photo? Nice, right? Eheh!
The last Letter was about online gurus, moments where we feel everything is crumbling around us, and how to romance one’s life. It was a lot of things. And it was funny!
In the last Note, I talked about my brow insecurities.
In our last live, we talked about depression, living with actors, and as always, more!
We’re meeting again tomorrow, Friday, February 15th, at the usual 6pm UK time. If you don’t know how to join our lives, learn more here and let me know if you have any questions.
The most important thing when it comes to beauty? Good lighting!
Doré is still THE BEST coolest effortless French skincare line (and not just because I created it!)
If you have any questions or would like to suggest a subject for one of my future Notes, let me know here!
Big kiss!
I really like the look of the clear lenses!
Yes I use coloured lenses. I specifically have a pair of pink BIG round glasses with ombré pale pink fading into the lightest grey lenses. The best [=most unbelievable] thing about them is that they came from TIGER and cost ONE QUID. No kidding, I've been stopped in HARRODS because of these glasses. I suspect they will soon be on their way out and cause one of those crises only IFORMMs [intense fashionistas of reduced means] can comprehend.
PS: First pair is best on you. You already have the coat from COS, go open a gallery. Problem solved.
