Recently, I’ve been looking for fashion accessories with a little bit more personality than my The Row or The Row inspired ones, and that’s when Alaïa Le Teckel appeared right in front of my very eyes.
I started clicking around like a madwoman to see where I could find this stroke of elongated genius (a Teckel is what we call a Dachshund in France)
(the person who named the bag should get a CFDA award) and that’s when I realised that:
1/ It’s sold out everywhere (meaning I actually do NOT have a personality, it’s just the latest trend and the algorithms were like, yeah, she’ll eat that up, SO PREDICTABLE).
2/ It’s exactly $2,850, and I think I’d rather buy a few olive trees* for that price—even though designer bags, it needs to be said if we want to sound like informed sophisticated fashion ladies, can be great investments. Hermès, Chanel, Alaïa, and even some Khaite bags resell at exactly the same price—and very often higher because of the scarcity.
I kept Googling away and found that this shape is everywhere. Khaite has come up with a lovely version, and closer to me, this Australian brand, Christopher Esmer, has designed an extremely pleasing version.
I am tempted by the Christopher Esber.
But I need your opinion on the lingering question. Isn’t it always better to just go ahead and buy the original—even if it means a waitlist and a scorching bill?
Because at the end of the day, trendy items with no resell value, I know where they end up. In that dusty closet in an obscure location in the house.
What do you think?
*That is if I buy my house in Morocco!
The last Letter was about my not so soft landing in Auckland to reunite with my husband, my resistance to yet another big life change, and slowly opening up to a new adventure.
The last Note was a recap of my life because the bouncing around has been a bit messy and those of you who don’t receive the Letter have literally no idea about what’s going on!
Here is where you can read all of my Notes.
In the last live, we talked about about aging, hair loss and more!
I am in love with Doré La Pochette!!! If you would like one for yourself, we have an amazing offer :)
If there are any topics you would like me to write about in future Notes, let me know here!
Big kisses and have a wonderful day!
As much as I love a great bag, I’m going to plead the case for the actual dog. I have a miniature dappled Dachshund named Dottie Parker (because she steals ink pens) and she brings me more joy than I ever thought possible. ❤️
Go for a walk to the top of your closest maunga (Auckland volcano), enjoy the sunshine and the views then buy the olive trees. You'll be grateful in about 20 years time when you're visiting Morocco - the handbag will be a distant memory!
