My Baroque Pearls
I get lots of compliments and questions about my baroque pearl necklace and I used to feel bad about the fact that I had forgotten where I’d gotten it. I knew it was in Italy, close to Nice… But where exactly?
Then this evening, a genius idea came through. What about my photos’ geolocation?
I checked, and bam, I found it! Who needs a brain when you have a phone!? Here’s the story:
Often, when I go to Nice, my mother, my sister and my aunt* come to meet me, and whenever the weather permits, we go have lunch in Italy in my aunt’s dingy Mini.
That day, we had decided to go to San Remo, and after pasta at the Antica Trattoria La Pignese—which I recommend-ish—we walked around and found this fantastic pearl store where I lost my mind.
Let’s be honest, it’s nothing fancy—but if you look closely enough, there are a lot of treasures. The thing to do in this type of stores is to ask if they have “anything special” with a conspiratorial face.
That day, folded in a newspaper sheet, they had these beautiful baroque pearls.
I wanted to make a necklace out of them, but I didn’t like the clasps they were offering, so I had them dig in the depth of the store (and it is DEEP) to find this gorgeous silver one. They took my measurements, I paid, I came back an hour later, and it was ready.
I think I paid… probably between 300 and 500 euros? And that’s the story of my necklace.
SO—I was not able to find the exact name and address of the store but it’s on the corner of Corso Augusto Mombello and Via Nino Bixio, in San Remo!

*I asked them if they remembered where we had bought my necklace, and none of them did so I am not the only one with the goldfish brain—phew!

I also have a story about a pearl necklace) And because I had to move from Kharkiv to Poltava, I began to explore interesting stores, primarily jewelry ones, and I came across one wonderful jewelry store in which I found something that could not be found nowhere in Kharkiv are pearls of Silver color. Women from Poltava prefer to shop online or in Kyiv, so local jewelry stores are really full of treasures that are not found anywhere else)
