After a few days of popping back into Paris Fashion Week, the verdict is that if you want to do a good fashion comeback, unlock totally undeserved new levels of respect, or just seem incredibly cool anywhere you go, be 50 years old.
I’ve never gotten this much credit for anything else I have done (okay, that’s a bit of a lie. I am getting A TON of credit for being the One Who Started It All)(whether it’s true and whether we like the “All,” or not, is the question)(in any case, SORRY).
Nothing as crisp, clear, and sincere than what I get about my age, which—I am sorry to report—I have absolutely no hand in. If I had a choice, I’d be a sharp 94-year-old in my mind with an even sharper 35-year-old body.
Age happens—not much you can do.
By the way, people also tell me that I haven’t changed at all, which isn’t true. Maybe they mean my energy is similar? Warm and slightly chaotic?
The other day, sitting at the Victoria Beckham show which was BEAUTIFUL, I was feeling insecure, comparing myself to all the absolutely pristinely put together influencers sitting opposite me, and I had a moment when I was like “whhhhaaay?” (Hello, chaotic side of me!)
But then someone very important in the world of fashion, someone whose identity I can’t disclose (okay, it’s Lucien Pagès, who is the SFOF)(Saint Father Of Fashion) told me “Garance, we want women like you right now.”
I guess he meant real. (Just wait until I go get my facelift and my butt implant eheheheheh!)
But if Lucien said it, you can take it as the new gospel. We are needed :)
Anyway, my dear readers, and specifically my young ones who are a bit worried about the future, my advice is: don’t be. It’s very cool to be 50 right now. I’m not even 50 yet and I am already reaping many benefits.
I mean, how lucky are we to get older in a society that celebrates older women?
Tsssss, I write too much.
PS of course those photos were taken with a lot of flash and I do have many wrinkles, okay?
PPS because you might ask, I got the earrings from Monica Vinader, and I even have a code for you—with GARANCEDMV, you get 25% off! (I think it’s through the whole website!)
PPPS I’m still on my bra quest and don’t worry, I will share everything! I’m even debating taking photos of me in different bras, because I’m almost 50 and nothing can stop me ;)

Next Wednesday, March 19th at 6pm Paris time, I will host my first live right here on Substack! And for this time, the live will be available to everyone. Come join me and let me know in the comments if there is a specific subject you’d like me to talk about!
To join, download the Substack app and turn on your notifications to know when the live starts.
I can’t wait to see you!
At Doré, we launched a fantastic serum! It took four years to make it, and it’s absolutely perfect.
My last Letter was about what joys living in reality can bring. Thank you for all your emails <3
My last Note was about styling the perfect spring essential - a soft, comforting sweater.
Our last Live was a free flow and we talked about life, and my next chapter!
If there are any topics you would like me to write about in future Notes, let me know here.
Big kisses from Morocco and have a wonderful day!
Here is the thing. I feel like you can be appreciated as a "woman of a certain age" in Europe, certainly in France (where I live, just as long as... you're thin. That doesn't make me happy to write but it's still what I see and have experienced.
I really enjoy reading you but I just assure you
there is no age anymore
More old I become and more I feel younger
It’s a question of attitude
Keep well dearest Garance
You are more beautiful than you have never been
