Whether you’ve known me for many years or you’re new, I am so happy you’re here!
I am Garance, and this is the home I have chosen to host everything that has to do with my world—my newsletters, my lives, and also the on-going conversation I’ve had with some of you for many years.
Sharing my life stories is one of my favourite things to do, and I do that in The Letter—not just because I am a raging narcissist, which, admittedly… It’s also because it seems like I’m one of these people who’ve never been given a guide to life. I figure it out as I go—as you’ll see in my very intimate, mostly self-deprecating (also, on occasions, very profound) letters.
They always come with an original illustration—here are a few of them for you to read freely.
You’ll also find The Note, a shorter, lighter, less intimate read where I’ll share all the things I love, mostly fashion, because even though I left the front rows a few years ago, I still love, love, love talking about style.
You’ll be able to join our private lives (I have one every other week) where I answer all of your questions. Those are really fun, and they’re also how I get to meet you and exchange with you in real time.
You’ll have to be a paying subscriber to access them—it’s been really fundamental for me to keep things intimate, because as you’ll see if you join, I don’t have many filters with my community.
Talking about intimacy and closeness, this community is a place where friendships are made, ideas are shared and conversations are started. We’ve been going strong for more than four years and it’s been the absolute joy of my life to connect with like-minded women.
For those of you who have never met me, or who have missed a few episodes, here is a quick refresher. You’ll learn that I was there, lurking online, long before online became a thing. At that time, blogs were new and so exciting that Anna Wintour hated them, probably because she immediately sensed that it would revolutionise her world.
If so, she was right. Things have exploded in a million directions, but this new home feels like the same amazing fresh and welcoming place the Internet used to be. I love it. And I am so, so excited to have you.
Hi Garance! So glad to see you here in Substack! Welcome! I started a few months ago too because I gave myself a chance to share my poems out there with the world. And Substack is a very friendly place to do so. My newsletter is called Pluma Afilada.
Hi Garance! Glad to have you in my (subscription) life and have opportunity to follow you here. I’m not familiar with Substack but I would be glad to explore it. At the same time as I am currently in Belarus (I know, it’s not the best place to be now, but sometimes our family needs rule) I have to use vpn, because substack is unavailable to enter from my Belarus. Will your letters be here only, right?
