As someone at a similar latitude (Melbourne) I'd wear it with my slim-cut, high-waist, dark green Jigsaw trousers for maximum ease of movement in cold weather. Plus a pile of necklets in semi-precious stones or vibrant fluorescent plastic to keep my carotid artery cosy.

I agree with you about heavy clothes shoes and bags. I recently bought a pair of Vince boots and they are perfectly designed but weigh a ton. I feel like they drag me down. The hunt continues.
